Empower Me Tool kit - Building Emotional Resilience in Children

The Empowering Little Learners " Empower Me Toolkit " is grounded in evidence-based practices that support emotional regulation by integrating three key domains: interoception, executive function, and the window of tolerance. Together, these concepts provide a comprehensive framework for helping children recognise their internal states, regulate their responses, and return to a calm and engaged learning state

The Empower Me Tool Kit is also aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Australian Primary School Curriculum.

Emotion Education

The goal of the Empower Me Tool Kit is to help children to feel what their body is experiencing internally, and this awareness contributes to recognising emotional states. Mahler, L. (2018).

Creative Resources

The kit includes prompts and stratergies that supports Executive function skills. Enabling children to choose and use a strategy (e.g., deep breathing, sensory input) to return to their optimal zone. Building self-awareness, resilience, and emotional flexibility

Visual 3 Step

The tool kit follows a simple three step process - 1. Identify the emotion, 2. How it looks and feels and 3. the Power Move activities to help regain clarity.

Lifelong Learning

The Tool kit encourages children to label or manage their feelings effectively.

Using physical feeling tiles (e.g., “body feeling uncomfortable,” “sweaty hands”) to build body-awareness vocabulary.
Encouraging children to connect bodily cues with emotion zones.
Supporting children in developing co-regulation and independent strategies.
